Course Overview

Face-to-face duration: 5 days (4 days theory and practical training and 1 day assessment)

Times: 7:00am – 3:00pm

Pre-requisite: Participants must be 18 years of age to sit the WHS Qld assessment and be proficient in English

Assessment type: Theory and practical

Course Fees: $1250

    • Photo ID required and, wear suitable clothing (PP&E if available) and closed in shoes
    • Successful applicants will receive a Statement of Attainment and AS1 form
    • Apply for a 5-year High Risk Work Licence through Work Place Health and Safety QLD at an additional fee

Nationally Recognised Course

Course outline

This nationally recognised training course gives participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently undertake dogging work in a range of working environments with cranes and hiabs. On completion the trainees will be able to competently understand and perform:

  • Legislations and standards applicable to dogging
  • Risk management, control procedures and planning work
  • Crane types, crane set up and dogging operations
  • Select and inspect lifting gear and equipment
  • Slinging load techniques
  • Direct crane operators in the safe movement and placement of loads including out of view of the crane operator

Bert Funding - If you are a member of BERT and meet the BERT Training Fund (BTF) eligibility criteria, you can apply for a training subsidy.  Please note no funds are deducted from your BERT account to cover the cost of your training.  Your BERT account is only used as a reference to determine the amount of funding we will authorise. You can apply online by visiting www.btfund.org.au and selecting ‘Apply Here’ for Training Grants.  Submit your application and if successful, you will receive written confirmation of your grant and the amount to be funded.
