Requirements & Details:

  • Qualification Requirements -  Participants must present their current RIISS00034 Statement of Attainment
  • A refresher course must be completed every 5 years
  • Participants must be a minimum of 17 years of age to sit the assessment, and be proficient in English
  • Photo ID, and wear appropriate clothing and closed in shoes
  • A short literacy and numeracy test will be required
  • Assessment type: Theory and Practical
  • After a successful competency assessment, you will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Queensland Transport and Logistics Training Pty Ltd (QTLT) NVR RTO 40931.

This Skill Set addresses the regulatory requirements for open-cut coal mining specified in Recognised Standard 11, Training in Coal Mining Safety and Health Act, Queensland.

  • RIICOM201D - Communicate in the workplace
    • This unit covers skills and knowledge required to communicate in the workplace within the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.

  • RIIERR205D - Apply initial response First Aid
    • This unit describes a participant's skills and knowledge required to apply initial response First Aid in Coal and Metalliferous mining.

  • RIIERR302E - Respond to local emergencies and incidents
    • This unit covers skills and knowledge required to respond to a range of local emergencies and incidents. It includes implementing response plans, monitoring the situation, taking necessary precautionary measures, and supporting formal relief.

  • RIIGOV201D - Comply with site work processes/procedures
    • This unit covers skills and knowledge required to Comply with site work processes/procedures in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.

  • RIIRIS201D - Conduct local risk control
    • This unit covers skills and knowledge required to conduct local hazard ID and risk control in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.

  • RIIWHS201D - Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
    • This unit covers skills and knowledge required to work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.

Apply for Training Funding

Bert Funding - If you are a member of BERT and meet the BERT Training Fund (BTF) eligibility criteria, you can apply for a training subsidy.  Please note no funds are deducted from your BERT account to cover the cost of your training.  Your BERT account is only used as a reference to determine the amount of funding we will authorise. You can apply online by visiting https://bert.com.au/ and selecting ‘Apply Here’ for Training Grants.  Submit your application and if successful, you will receive written confirmation of your grant and the amount to be funded.

Jetco Funding - If you are an employee and your employer makes monthly contributions to CIRT and to the JETCO training fund on your behalf, you may be entitled to a subsidy for approved industry based training. Visit the website Jetco.
