Main duties/responsibilities of role
The main duties of a truck driver driving a Volvo include:
· Undertaking local and semi-regional multi-drop or straight deliveries as allocated daily.
· Plan routes and meet delivery schedules/windows.
· Sign on Glass for freight deliveries and ascertain signatures on paperwork for all collected pallets from store personnel.
· Unloading goods which requires using and Electric Pallet Jack.
· Operating the truck safely including complying with all road safety rules, fatigue management, traffic laws and company policies and procedures at all times.
· Maintaining documentation, including logs, timesheets and records of any safety and incidents.
· Inspecting of the truck to prevent any safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
· Report defects, accidents, incidents, formal warnings, breach notices, intercepts or violations as soon as they occur via phone to Manager.
· Document and log work/rest periods and kilometres spent driving and retail fuel/product receipts.
· Document load weights and record on timesheets for every load, attach load weigh bridge dockets to your timesheets.
· Maintain accurate time sheets daily. Prestart checks are to be completed daily.
· All timesheets are to be submitted to their Supervisor daily.
Other performance requirements
Other requirements include:
· Driver, truck and trailers must always be presented in a neat and tidy manner.
· Cleaning truck at the start of every working week. (one truck/one driver)
· Option for taking the truck home arrangement, if suitable.
· Conduct yourself in a professional and respectable manner, at all times.
· Uniform and appropriate PPE must be worn on site at all times.
· The uniform supplied by Catetrans Pty Ltd, must be worn inside and outside of the truck when representing the company. (If employment is terminated, all supplied uniforms and PPE are to be returned immediately).
· Be aware of all other road users and drive in a safe manner.
· No Passengers are allowed in the company vehicles, this includes on trips, Distribution Centres and Customer Sites, the only exception is your Supervisor, Manager or Fellow Team Members.
· Must be able to pass random drug and alcohol testing.
Skills and experience
A truck driver must have the following range of skills and experience, including:
· Be proficient in the use of GPS navigation systems.
· Have a valid truck driver’s licence HC or MC and a clean driving record.
· If the Driver holds a HR licence and has 5+ years driving experience in Australia – this will be considered and held in high regard, if the individual is willing to attain/progress to a HC licence with company assistance.
· Drivers holding a HC licence should have a minimum of 5+ years driving experience in Australia. However we are willing to review for the right candidate and their type of experience, as we are willing to train.
· Ability to maintain concentration while driving for several hours at a time.
· Have strong knowledge of traffic laws, particularly truck driving rules and regulations.
· Be physically fit.
· Have strong time management skills and can forward think.
· Sound basic mechanical knowledge.
· Have strong problem-solving skills to deal with accidents and unforeseen incidents.
· Have good communication skills – this is key to maintaining relationships. You must have the ability to converse with all facets of personnel – including your Supervisor, Manager, Team Members, all onsite Distribution Personnel.
· Maintain good working relationships with all Customers and conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
